GMD2 to hold annual meeting

HALSTEAD--Jeff Winter, President of the Equus Beds Groundwater Management District, will officiate at the district’s 44th annual meeting beginning at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 5, in the Halstead High School Auditorium, 520 W. 6th Street, in Halstead.

District Manager Tim Boese will review the district's programs, projects and activities for last year and planned activities for 2019.

Newly appointed Kansas Secretary of Agriculture Mike Beam is scheduled to speak at the meeting.

Mike McGinn, Treasurer, will report on the district's financial condition. The Board of Directors will review a proposed fiscal year 2020 budget for adoption.

Other business to be conducted at the meeting includes the election of three director positions to the nine-member board of directors. Incumbents Alan Burghart – McPherson County, David Stroberg – Reno County, and Bob Seiler - Sedgwick County, are each seeking another three-year term of office. 

Voter registration will be conducted in the commons area beginning at 6:15 p.m., and ending at 7 p.m.

Persons interested in running for the Equus Beds Board of Directors must either file an application and statement of eligibility with the district by March 4, 2019, or seek nomination at the meeting.
