Helen D. Keller

HALSTEAD—Helen D. Keller, 96, died Monday, April 24, 2017 at Halstead Health and Rehabilitation, Halstead.

She was born, Oct. 30, 1920 in Macon Township, Harvey County, to William J. and Anna A. (Nolting) Keller. 

She worked in various capacities for Mobil Exxon, retiring in 1979 after 28 years.

She had a passion for, and was an accomplished bowler. She loved nature and animals. She was also a faithful caregiver to her mother until her passing.

She kept herself busy acknowledging and sending birthday cards to her 94 nieces and nephews until they reached age 18.

She is survived by nine nieces and nephews; 20 great nieces and nephews; 38 great-great nieces and nephews and 27 great-great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Sylvester Keller, and sisters Eldred Hahn and Virginia Yeast.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 5 at Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead, with Pastor Ed Blanchette presiding. A visitation with the family will precede this from 1 p.m. until the service begins.

Burial will follow at Halstead Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Caring Hands Humane Society or Good Shepherd Hospice in care of Kaufman Funeral Home.
